NEW! Dermaplaning Facial Treatment

This glorious facial will leave your skin feeling "baby soft". The combination of dermaplaning and a facial peel is the epitome of anti-aging, brightening and softness.

Dermaplaning is a professional treatment that involves manual exfoliation of the skin’s top layer, including the vellus hair (peach fuzz). It’s performed by gently scraping the skin’s surface with a blade. It is a beneficial treatment for any skin type, helping to improve dryness, hyperpigmentation, excess oil and mild acne.

The Skin and the Aging Process

The appearance of the skin is affected by 2 types of aging:

Intrinsic (internal) aging is caused by the genes you inherit
Extrinsic (external) aging is caused by environmental factors like sun exposure

As our bodies age, skin cells renew themselves more slowly, leading to: - deterioration (fine lines, wrinkles, texture)
- descent (droopiness or sagging skin)
- deflation (loss of fullness or volume)

Skin pigmentation is also affected by the aging process, leading to age spots and uneven tone. Acne-prone skin can be affected in the long term by acne scarring.

Dermaplaning helps to address these concerns by exfoliating the skin, helping to reveal a brighter, more youthful-looking complexion. By combining dermaplaning with other skin rejuvenation treatments, we can address the 3 D’s of aging.

Combining Dermaplaning with a Facial Peel

Dermaplaning is particularly effective when used in combination with a chemical peel. Removing the keratin layer of the skin (surface skin cells) allows the acid to penetrate the skin more deeply and evenly.

Using either a salicylic or glycolic acid peel it takes the top most layer of your skin off allowing for regeneration and removal of any impurities and some discolouration.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

- helps to smooth out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- helps exfoliate skin with broken capillaries
- contributes to a more even skin tone and reduction in acne scarring
- increases the efficacy and penetration of topical ingredients, from chemical peels to skincare regimes with active ingredients
- vellus hair is removed, which leads to smoother-looking skin; this is additionally beneficial for those who are unhappy with the appearance of peach fuzz on the face
- removal of vellus hair can help to reduce occurrence of acne, as bacteria and oils have fewer opportunities to get trapped on the skin’s surface
- helps to create a smooth canvas for easy makeup application

Dermaplaning Myths

1. Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

As the hair grows back in, it may initially appear thicker, but this is only because it has been cut straight across, exposing more surface area of the hair directly against the lighter-in-tone skin. As the hair continues to grow in, this illusion dissipates.

2. Dermaplaning causes Acne because you're "opening" the pores.
No. Dermaplaning is great for removing dead skin cells, oil and dirt that hides in the "peach fuzz" which is the cause of Acne.

3. Dermaplaning is painful.
No. It's completely pain-free. It is in fact the least painful hair removal procedure. It's safe for all skin types EXCEPT those with ACNE.
