FALL SKIN CARE
New Season, New Skin Care Routine.
As sad as we are to see summer go, Autumn brings cooler weather, pretty colours and the need for new skin care routines.
As the weather gets cooler and our furnaces and car heaters start turning back on, we may start to experience dry skin.
There are a few ways we can prepare our skin before the obvious signs of dryness take hold:
Exfoliating
If we allow our skin to get dry it means a lot of dead skin cells are layering up making it impossible to absorb moisturizers and product meant to increase your skin's moisture. By exfoliating off the dead skin cells, your skin is able to receive serums and creams leaving your skin feeling plump and refreshed!
Change Up Your Skin Care
As our skin gets dryer throughout the winter, it's a good idea to add a serum before your moisturizer. No matter what time of year, our skin LOVES serums - they are the quickest way to penetrate the skin and add instant moisture. In the fall and winter our lighter moisturizers from summer may not suffice, switching to a heavier cream especially at night will give your skin the added moisture it needs.
Masks
While masks are great all year round, we usually spend more time inside during the Fall and dark cold evenings are a perfect time to do a mask . Not only do masks force you to take some "me time" but adding a mask to your weekly routine will help infuse your skin with products like Hyaluronic Acid which is a molecule that holds 1000x it's weight in moisture.
Humidity
As soon as your start to use your furnace, it's a good idea to turn on your humidifier! Having a humidifier in your bedroom prevents your skin from drying out - remember dry skin doesn't take your skin products....it's a vicious circle!
