It's winter in Canada and not usually a time where we consider conditions such as Skin Cancer, however, some of us are planning a winter vacation down south where the sun is still very strong and can be dangerous.
Here are a couple facts about Sun Safety and Sun Care Products we offer at The Facial Place.
1. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and it is also one of the most preventable.
2. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen wth SPF 30 or higher and apply generously to any uncovered skin.
3. Seek shade and cover up with clothing, a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses and UVA/UVB protection.
4. The main risk factor is UV rays from the sun and other sources such as tanning beds.
5. Our skin produces vitamin D when exposed to sunlight but getting vitamin D from your diet or by taking vitamin D supplements and food such as fatty fish, sardines, tuna and some fortified dairy products, juices and cereals may be safer.
