Lungs and Overall Health

When we lose weight, do you know where the fat goes?
In our minds, we think of the fat just melting away, but we never give much thought to how it actually leaves our body.

The truth is, fat leaves via YOUR LUNGS!

When we exercise and diet, our fat cells release fat......but they also toxins that have been absorbed through other means such as, chemicals and pollutants, creams and food.
It's suggested that the lungs are the main excretory organ for weight loss. H20 produced by oxidation in the lungs, leaves our bodies via urine, feces, breath and other fluids.

Lungs are usually the last to show signs of congestion! This is why it's so important to regularly detoxify and care for our lungs by avoiding unnecessary toxins. Change the products you use to clean your home with to natural plant based or organic. This is a great start as chemical cleaners may be linked to allergies and asthma. Also, be aware of what is being absorbed by your skin (your body's largest organ). Anything absorbed is circulated, stored and will eventually need to be released via the main detoxing routes: Liver, Kidney, Lungs, Lympth and Skin.

Below are some ideas on how to naturally detox your Lungs:

  • Drink water! Your lungs are very dependent on water. Mucus membranes in your body must stay moist or toxins are not eliminated. You MUST sweat!! So many toxins are expelled through your sweat.
  • Consume certain foods organically ( Click Dirty Dozen List). Chemicals in certain foods can congest the Lungs.
  • Consume lentils, ginger, garlic, apples, green tea - all great detoxifying foods.
  • Practise deep breathing. This is especially useful if you are sick. The body releases endorphins, which are natural pain killers.
